APL’s High School is designed around the holistic needs of adolescent learners. Many students benefit from personalized programming and supportive adult relationships during their high school years. At APL, we offer an alternative independent school option, with an emphasis on creating a neurodiverse community where all students feel a high sense of belonging and support regardless of their previous experience. Here, we weave individualized student support services within our rigorous and joyful educational program to ensure each student meets their highest potential.
Some of the high school’s distinct features include: • Small classroom settings designed to provide supportive engagement of all students, meaningful peer relationships, and instruction and learning opportunities tailored to each students’ needs and strengths • Enhanced staffing ratios and expertise to ensure the individual academic, behavioral, social-emotional and vocational needs of all students can be met within an inclusive community • Data-informed instruction and intervention utilizing the precision teaching methodology • Diverse learning experiences, including project-based learning, online content, enrichment opportunities, and student-chosen, college-preparatory electives • Our robust High School and Beyond transition program, where every student has meaningful community experiences in areas of interest beginning in ninth grade • Weekly advisory periods and individual college and career counseling for each student and family • Access to a variety of supportive services, including SAT preparatory courses, ABA therapy, educational-psychological assessment, learning specialist instruction, individual, group and family therapy, and coordination with existing service providers
