Brad Porter, President Brad is a Vice President and Distinguished Engineer at Amazon. Brad's expertise is in scaling the technology, organization, and processes of high-growth tech companies. Prior to joining Amazon, Brad was an early contributor at Netscape and Tellme Networks. He holds a Bachelorís and Masterís degree in Computer Science from MIT. Brad and his wife Kristine are the proud parents of an APL Student.
Erin Brewer, Co-Vice President Erin is a co-founder of APL and former President of the Board. Erin worked in Communications at Microsoft from 1992-2010 and currently does consulting work for the company. Prior to Microsoft, she worked at Ketchum Public Relations in Washington, DC. Erin has a Bachelor's of Arts in English from the University of Virginia and is a proud parent of an APL student.
Liz Bluechel, Co-Vice President Liz earned her degree from the University of Washington in Organizational Psychology. In 2014 she helped start Engage ABA, a Behavioral Health Agency serving teens through adulthood on the Autism Spectrum. She is currently the Director of Operations for Engage and thoroughly enjoying helping the agency grow. Prior to this, she spent 12 years working in the finance industry holding multiple positions in Sales, Management and Human Resources. She has over 10 years of experience in Volunteer Management and was the Volunteer Coordinator for APL for 3 years. She's also been an advocate for children with special needs within the community for the past 8 years and is happy to be an APL parent.
Jonathan Spencer, Treasurer Jonathan is a finance professional with over twenty years of experience in both public and private company settings across a variety of industries. He is currently consulting for various early- to mid-stage businesses in the Seattle area. A graduate of the University of Virginia (BS, Commerce) and the University of Washington (MBA), Jonathan is a proud parent of three girls who attend Assumption-St. Bridget School.
Matt Gordon, Assistant Treasurer Matt is a co-founder of APL and original President of the Board and served for many years as the Treasurer. He is employed by Amazon Web Services focused on international expansion projects. Matt has almost 30 years of experience in high technology, including stints at Intel where he ran the Seattle Intel Capital office and at Microsoft as a Director of Business Development in the patent group. He has a BSEE/MSEE from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute and an MBA from Columbia University. Matt, along with his wife Nancy, is a proud parent of an APL student.
Jonathan Kil, MD, Secretary Jonathan has served as President and currently serves as Secretary of the Board. He is the Co-Founder, CEO, and Chief Medical Officer of Sound Pharmaceuticals, a private biotech focused of developing the first therapeutics for hearing loss and tinnitus. Dr. Kil has been the principal investigator on numerous awards from the NIH and Dept. of Defense (DoD) and received training in neuroscience and otolaryngology at the UW, UVa, Georgetown, and UC Irvine. Heís an advisor to the DoDís Hearing Center of Excellence and serves on the Board of UW/Harborview Medical Center and the Bertschi School. Heís a proud parent of a student at APL, in addition to two other children.
Dave Clark Dave is Amazonís Senior Vice President of Worldwide Operations & Customer Service, and oversees the companyís customer service team, supply chain, transportation, and fulfillment networks in North America, Japan, Europe, China, and India. Dave has held several key roles at Amazon since starting with the company in 1999, including General Manager of one of Amazonís fulfillment centers in Pennsylvania, Regional Director of Operations and, ultimately, overseeing Amazonís entire North American Operations network. In January 2013, Dave was promoted to his current position leading worldwide operations and customer service. During his time with the company, Dave has taken on a variety of special projects, including the establishment and leadership of a then newly-created Global Amazon Customer Excellence System (ACES) in 2007, and managing the North American Operations network during several busy holiday peak seasons. Dave holds an MBA from the University of Tennessee and a BA from Auburn University.
Mary Fordham Mary is a special education Ph.D student at the University of Washington. Formerly, Mary has taught as a special education teacher for students with severe disabilities for the past ten years in Washington, Oregon, and Texas. Currently, she is supervising and coaching teacher candidates in the low-incidence disabilities Master's program at UW. In her free time, you can often find Mary shredding the trails on her mountain bike or exploring other cultures and countries.
Samia Mohazzabfar Samia is a co-founder of APL and has served as the Fundraising Chair since the school's inception. Samia is a native of Seattle and attended the University of Washington. Samia is a proud parent of an APL student.
Jonathan Roberts Jonathan is a Founder and General Partner of Ignition Partners. Prior to Ignition, Roberts spent 13 years at Microsoft where he led the marketing and business efforts for various versions of Windows, Windows NT, Back Office, and Windows CE. Roberts received his B.A. in History from the University of Washington, where he was also Student Body President. In addition to his Ignition boards, Jonathan currently serves on the National Bureau of Asian Research (NBR) board and the Advisory Board on the University of Washingtonís Institute of Stem Cell and Regenerative Medicine (ISCRM). Jonathan was formerly on the executive committees of the Epiphany School, the University of Washington Foundation Board, and the United Nations Association of America. Jonathan is a proud parent of an APL student.
March Rogers March is a Director of Product Design at Microsoft. He has twenty years of experience creating digital products to help people solve problems and make the world a better place. March has worked at Microsoft since 2005, prior to which he ran his own design agency and worked at several startups. He is a mentor for the University of Washington's design program. March and his wife Kristin are the proud parents of an APL student.
Gina Solberg Gina is the Director of Employment Services at PROVAIL in Seattle,Washington. The employment services provided at PROVAIL specialize in Customized Employment and Transition Services. Gina has been in the field of developmental disabilities for twenty years. Gina is a board member of the Community Employment Alliance and the Washington State Chapter of APSE. Before working in Supported Employment, Gina was a Program Director for an agency providing community living supports for individuals with autism. Gina lives in West Seattle with her husband and 8 year old boy.
Gary Stobbe, MD Gary is a Clinical Assistant Professor, Departments of Neurology and Psychiatry at the University of Washington. Gary is a cognitive and behavioral neurologist specializing in autism spectrum disorders, traumatic brain injury, and multiple sclerosis. He is Director of the Adult Transition Program at Seattle Children's Autism Center and Director of the UW Medicine Adult Autism Clinic.APL wishes to thank the following for supporting the school:
